  • Making Proficiency Scales Scalable: Dr. Craig Carson from the Ozark School District unveils a "systems approach" for creating proficiency scales across multiple buildings and staff. Learn how they use proficiency scales and priority standards for effective accountability.

  • Rethinking Time: Four-Day School Week (Year Two): Mr. Mike Henry & Dr. Garrett Lowder from the Marshfield R-1 School District share their experiences with a learner-centered 4-day week model. Discover positive trends in achievement, teacher well-being, and a thriving learning culture. Explore systems and strategies for maximizing student learning impact.

Dr. Carson was named Assistant Superintendent of Learning of Ozark School District in 2012. The Assistant Superintendent of Learning oversees all levels of curriculum development and implementation. He also supervises the Executive Director of Secondary Learning, the Executive Director of Elementary Learning, the Executive Director of Special Services, and the Executive Director of Student Services.

I am married to Brooke, who teaches 2nd grade at Webster Elementary, and we have 4 children. We enjoy spending time outside-camping, hunting, fishing, etc. We also enjoy being involved with our kids' activities and being involved in our community.

Dr. Garrett Lowder

Dr. Garrett Lowder

Dr. Garrett Lowder is serving in his 13th year in public education. He began his career as a 4th grade teacher in Nixa Public Schools and soon transitioned to supporting the development of one of Missouri’s first STEM elementary schools as a 4th grade teacher in the years that followed. Dr. Lowder has since served as an administrator in roles including assistant principal at John Thomas School of Discovery and Inman Intermediate School in the Nixa School District. He transitioned to the Marshfield R-1 School District as Executive Director of Academic Services in 2019-2020 and presently serves as the district’s Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services. Currently Dr. Lowder serves on multiple advisories and committees related to professional learning including the Greater Ozarks Cooperating School District’s professional learning advisory, Agency for Teaching Leading and Learning’s Advisory, and as a Missouri Learning Forward board member.

Dr. Matt Pearce

Republic Schools

Dr. Matt Pearce is serving in his fourth year as Superintendent of the Republic School District after serving as Assistant Superintendent for the previous seven years. The 2023-2024 school year will be Dr. Pearce’s 28th working in public schools. Prior to joining the Republic team, Dr. Pearce served as the Principal of Glendale High School and Cherokee Middle School within the Springfield Public Schools district. Additionally, Dr. Pearce served as an assistant principal at Carver Middle School and Hillcrest High School within SPS. His career began as a social studies teacher and coach at Kickapoo High School teaching economics and government, also within the SPS system.

Dr. Tyler Overstreet

Dr. Tyler Overstreet is currently serving his fourth year as Assistant Superintendent of the Republic R-III School District and 18th year in the field of education. Previously, he served as Principal at Republic High School for five years. Before becoming a Republic Tiger, Dr. Overstreet served as an Assistant Principal and Activities Director at Glendale High School in the Springfield Public School system. Prior to his time at Glendale, Dr. Overstreet served as a Social Studies and Physical Education teacher at Logan-Rogersville and taught subjects ranging from elementary P.E., high school P.E., American History, World History, Psychology, and Sociology.

Our GOLearn PL Framework provides an overview of the learning experiences we offer. This systems approach supports continuous improvement and allows members to identify the offerings that meet their needs, providing a personalized experience. It includes three strands: Systems Thinking, Safe and Collaborative Culture, and Highly Effective Teaching and Leading.

We use the Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning when designing our experiences to ensure that we provide professional learning that leads to high-quality leading, teaching, and learning for students and educators.
